Chairperson

Aobh Hollywood

Aobh Hollywood is chathaoirleach/Chairperson od SDLP Youth. She is a 19 year old Law student from South Belfast, who is dedicated to building a progressive, fair New Ireland. Social democracy’s goals of justice, fairness, and equality are her motivation; having entered youth activism as an executive member of SSUNI, she is passionate about students’ rights and championing youth voices, particularly in conversations about their futures.

Vice Chairperson

Ben Gilmore

Ben Gilmore is vice chairperson and North South officer of SDLP Youth. He is a 20 year old Law and politics student from Kircubbin, Stanford, who is passionate about creating a new, progressive and fair Ireland that works for all. Focused on ending division, he is dedicated to working with parties across the Island of Ireland, strengthening the labour movement across the border and building connections with social democrats across Europe.

Megan McKay

“My name is Méigén Mac Aobha (Megan McKay). I’m a 17 year old Irish-Italian activist and former SZU exchange student from Lambeg. I’m currently studying a-levels history, politics and English literature and joined the party in 2022. I am passionate about multiculturism, pacifism, social justice and climate action. I was elected Vice chair of the Lisburn and Lagan Valley constituency branch for 2023/24.”

Secretary General

Eilidh O’Connor

Eilidh O’Connor is Rúnaí Ginearálta/ Secretary General of SDLP Youth. She is a 19 year old Law and French student from Derry, currently studying in Dublin. She is passionate about delivering a New and Inclusive Ireland for people from all backgrounds. As a former president of the SSUNI she has long been a champion fro student rights and has advocated for increased youth participation in politics.

Communications Officer

Morna Mooney

Morna Mooney is the communications officer for the SDLP Youth. She is an 18 year year old student from Derry. She is passionate about an inclusive, just and prosperous new Ireland for everyone. She joined the party locally in 2019. She believes in a New Ireland with people from every background at the centre. She is passionate about reproductive rights, economic justice and grassroot politics.

Membership And Recruitment Officer

Tony McCann

Tony McCann is the membership and recruitment officer of SDLP Youth. He is a 21 year old History and Politics student from Bangor. Tony is passionate about gaining civil rights for all and tackling sectarianism. He ran in the 2023 local elections for Bangor West and witnessed people’s desire for more left wing politics in NI. As membership officer, Tony wants to bring more young people from different backgrounds into social democratic politics.
