YES VP Candidate launches Manifesto

Our candidate for the position of Vice President of the Young European Socialists (YES), Leah Rea, has today released her manifesto which outlines her vision for the Young European Socialists.

With the participation and representation of Member Organisations at its core, Leah’s manifesto is framed on five key pillars, which seek to strengthen existing structures and provide greater opportunities for engagement, participation, and accountability.

SDLP Youth is delighted that Leah has the opportunity to share her vision and thoughts for the Young European Socialists. Through her years of service, Leah has proven herself as a committed and principled activist, particularly on matters of human rights and equality, and a staunch advocate for social justice. We know Leah as a passionate Internationalist who promotes the values of social democracy, labour, and solidarity at every opportunity. She has strong experience in engagement and representation including in Europe through her ongoing service as International Secretary; we know she will work hard to represent the Young European Socialists and its Member Organisations.

Launching her manifesto, Leah said:

“The Young European Socialists has long served as an inspirational model for SDLP Youth. We have been so grateful for the solidarity and support both to our organisation generally, and our efforts to advance the causes of social democracy and labour in Northern Ireland more specifically. I am therefore excited to have the opportunity to put forward my vision for the Young European Socialists, which has our Member Organisations at its core.

“There are five pillars to my vision for the Young European Socialists which I believe collectively can ensure the full participation and empowerment of Member Organisations so that in conjunction with the Presidium, the Young European Socialists and we as activists can work towards advancing our shared vision of a Europe working for all citizens.”

Ní neart go cur le chéile - there is no strength without unity, and a strong Young European Socialists organisation is required to promote the cause of social democracy and labour across Europe at this time. We know that Leah will bring her experience, commitment, and values to the Young European Socialists and work to achieve a strong organisation.

The Young European Socialists’ Congress takes place between 1 - 3 October 2021, and SDLP Youth are seeking the support of our sister organisations for our candidate Leah Rea.

Leah’s manifesto can be accessed on her campaign website.
